Overview
This is my first novel. It's been ten years and a long, tedious process to get here. And we're still not done yet.
This story is very intricate and mutli-layered. Some of that is because I've been working on it for so long, but most of it is delibrate. I put a lot of thought into each piece of text, up to and including the chapter titles. The story should be simple to follow, but often there is much more going on than is obvious. Keep an eye on it and see if you can figure it out.
“What do you want?” Lucas’s voice pulls her out of her thoughts. She turns back to him.
“I need to give you something.” She pulls aside her jacket and pulls a gun out of her shoulder holster. She holds it out towards Lucas. “Do you know how to use it?”
That pause again that makes her think he’s looking at her. Then he picks it up, checks the mag, cocks it, aims, and flicks the safety off. The gun pointed right between her eyes. Vivianne smiles. “Good,” she says.
A moment of hesitation and then the safety is back on, the gun stashed away. She wonders if he actually considered shooting her. She would, in his place, but then he had always been smart enough to know a bad bet when he saw it.
“Keep in contact. If I don’t get what I want, I intend to follow through.” She stares at the opaque lenses of his sunglasses. “Can you follow through?”
